Designer Profiles
BD Barcelona
These Basque-based titans of design have been producing unique conceptual furniture pieces for well over 30 years. In 1972 a conglomeration of interior designers, artists and architects joined forces to create Bd Ediciones de Diseo. The principle founders were Cristian Cirici, Oscar Tusquets, Pep Bonet, Mireia Riera and Lluis Clotet; together they created a new and imaginative style of design that helped redefine Spanish and Basque.
Contemporary Bd Barcelona Designs
The multi-award winning design house has pooled the talents of a multi-national cast of skilled artists to create their diverse range of contemporary furniture and furnishings. With an eclectic mix of old and new, ranging from works inspired by the surrealist artist Salvador Dali to modern industrial designer Ross Lovegrove, the range of products created by Bd Barcelona cover a broad range of cultures and styles.
Pioneering International Style
Jaime Hayon is perhaps one of their best known contemporary designers; creating a body of work that has not only elevated his own reputation, but also that of Bd Barcelona. The Showtime Poltrona is arguably the best known of these. Featured in both a sofa and armchair for use indoors and out form, the Poltrona is one of many furniture pieces in his diverse range under the Showtime moniker. Combining sleek modern materials and edginess with a more traditional styling, it has helped elevate Hayon to his position as an internationally recognised designer, despite still only being in his mid-30s. We are extremely pleased to be able to offer this fantastic, iconic piece of furniture right here at Leigh Harmer as both an armchair and sofa.
Eclectic Modern Furniture Range
Bd Barcelona have completed successful design projects throughout the world for a diverse range of clients; providing a selection of their finest products to offices, hotels and private homes to create a slice of their own unique styling. With their extremely varied collection offering contemporary creations that range from avant-garde extravagance to simplified minimalist, limitations as to where their furniture can be used are few.
With a truly international sphere of influence, firmly centred on Spanish and Basque sensibilities, Bd Barcelona offer something that few other design houses can come close to achieving. Each piece of this collective body of work provides a unique focal point, offering both practicality and chic style in unique fashion. Works including the Espejo Miralmar mirror also available from Leigh Harmer offer versatility and interactivity, taking a simple original concept and developing it to create something new and vibrant. This is the cornerstone of everything that Bd Barcelona does, and is the primary reason that their works bearing their name are so sought after.
