Black + Blum
London Based and Inspired
Black and Blum are a company comprised of the design minds of Dan Black and Martin Blum, this Anglo-Swiss company was formed in 1998 and have gone from strength to strength with their innovative contemporary designs. They have based their philosophy on practical pieces with a sense of humour, channelling both modern design and materials with inspiration from traditional pieces.
They have won a whole host of awards from 2001 including the Home and Gardens Classic design award in 2003 and 2004 and looking at their range its not hard to see why. With affordable pieces that will add accents to any room whilst maintaining their original purpose means a home of any style can own a piece that will compliment the existing décor.
For those who would like a more original piece they are available to design bespoke pieces working with the client to develop the perfect piece for the individual. The main office is based in the OXO tower in the heart of London and they are a multi national company dedicated to modern designs with a traditional twist.
Contemporary and Useful
Black + Blum create fun contemporary designs that have a tongue in cheek approach to life with the important element of actually being a useful item to have in the home. The range extends from a loo holder and magazine rack to James the doorstop who is a handy guy who keeps your door open. The iconic James can also be found propping your books up and in the form of Jimmy keeping your keys safe and helping you to enjoy a nice beer.
There are products for every room in the house, with the choice between completely contemporary and traditional with a twist. The perfect example of this would be the loop candelabra which is based on the idea of a traditional candelabra but has a curved looped contemporary base making it ideal for either a modern or traditional home.
No matter what your style you are bound to find something to be the perfect accent to your home.
