Kartell

Kartell Bourgie Lamp

With over 50 years of experience, Italian design house, Kartell has built an enviable reputation for producing highly innovative contemporary furniture that refuses to conform to the typical notions of modern interior design.

What initially began as a small car accessory company in 1949 is now recognised globally thanks to their distinctive office and dining chairs, quirky stools, functional dining tables, desks and lighting solutions.

Having successfully expanded the company's portfolio to incorporate household furnishings, the first Kartell design store was opened in New York, 1963. This outlet proved so popular that further stores were opened in Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Kartell Contemporary Furniture

Louis Ghost Chair

This internationally renowned contemporary design house is famed for working with leading designers, including the likes of Philippe Starck, Ferruccio Laviani and Ron Arad. As well as working with designers of the highest kalibre, Kartell is an inspirational user of plastics, employing innovative techniques to produce bold contemporary design icons. Working with such a versatile and relatively modern material enables Kartell to explore all manner of finishes, exceptional aesthetics and fantastic ergonomic design.

Kartell furniture features an intriguing blend of traditional design and modern styling and as such blends effortlessly into both classic and contemporary interiors. Distinctive items such as the Louis Ghost Chair by Philippe Starck underline the mentality of these Italian masters superbly; featuring a beautifully reworked Louis XV chair that has been injected with unique 21st century innovation.

Modern Interior Lighting

Another iconic piece of Kartell interior design is the Bourgie Lamp by Ferruccio Laviani. This imposing Baroque table lamp features the unmistakeable curves and elaborate design typical of the era, but has been dramatically restyled and crafted entirely from a transparent polycarbonate.

Vibrant colour and the cost effectiveness of Kartell's remarkable work set this design house firmly apart from the rest. At Leigh Harmer you can find a diverse range of sleek tables and attractive chairs and stools to grace the interior of your home.
